STUDIO POLICIES
Studio Behavior
Be Prepared
Please arrive on time for your lesson.
Students should have clean hands and fingernails, especially if using one of our pianos.
Students who are missing books, instruments, or other essential supplies may have their lesson forfeited if alternatives cannot be provided.
Students must be registered before their first lesson to reserve a time slot.
Stay Connected
Parents should be in contact with their child’s instructor regarding progress, effort, and behavior.
A parent or adult caregiver is asked to attend lessons of students ages 11 and under.
Parents are welcome during their child’s lesson! It is strongly advised that parents sit in at least a few times per semester.
Be Respectful
Those waiting outside classrooms should use inside voices and avoid disruptive behavior. Parents are responsible for their child’s actions.
Family members and friends are welcome to sit in the reception and play areas, where coloring books, magazines, games, and toys are available. Please leave facilities in the same tidiness they were found.
Missing a Lesson
General Policies
Students are guaranteed ONE (1) make-up lesson per semester for excused absences. These are provided during the end-of-the-semester Make-Up Week.
No portion of tuition, paid or outstanding, shall be refunded or cancelled due to absence, withdrawal, or dismissal.
Types of Missed Lessons
For a regular absence, 24-hour notice is required to qualify as excused.
In the case of illness, exceptions to the 24-hour notice policy can be made at instructor discretion.
In the case of dangerous weather, cancellations will be communicated via email and My Music Staff. If the Carroll County Public Schools and/or the Carroll County Snow Emergency Plan is in effect, all Opus activities are cancelled (unless teacher and student agree to conduct a virtual lesson). When in doubt, contact your teacher.
If a student’s lesson time conflicts with an Opus-related event, an alternative day and time will be provided. This primarily affects students who schedule weekend lessons.
Make-up Lessons Will Be Provided For…
Lessons missed by the teacher for any reason
Up to TWO (2) lessons missed due to weather cancellation per year, unless conducted online at teacher and student discretion
Up to ONE (1) excused absence per semester
Any additional lessons solely at the instructor’s discretion
Payment
NOTE: All inquiries regarding billing should be directed to Rebecca Borger.
Students will automatically be invoiced after registration. Payment is due immediately, unless we are informed that the student desires a flexible payment plan.
Requests for financial aid scholarships should be made as soon as possible for the best chance of an affirmative decision.
Sibling discounts are available only upon request. A 10% discount will be applied to each sibling after the initial registration.
Student Responsibility
While Opus strives to provide ample information regarding studio events/policies and to communicate with parents and students regularly, it is the student’s responsibility to be aware of closings, instructor absences, recitals, etc.
